Arcurve hosted a family Christmas event at Telus Spark on November 19th. To get our young Arcurvians into the spirit of giving, we asked the guests bring a children’s book to donate to Calgary Reads. Calgary Reads is charity that works to provide children across Alberta with the resources they need to develop a passion for reading. We received this lovely thank you from the organization:

“I wanted to follow up and to thank you for all the lovely books you collected on behalf of Calgary Reads. We are so grateful for your efforts. The books will go directly into our collaboration with the Calgary Food Bank. We take books and literacy coaches to the Food Bank, where we meet with families accessing emergency food hampers. The families and their children can select books for them to take home and to own. We also provide literacy coaching to help encourage the development of a daily reading practice and to dispel any myths or misunderstandings.

Because of the support we receive from donors like you and the employees of ARCURVE, we have been able to distribute over 12,000 books and have met with close to 2000 families. We often hear from the families we meet with that we are the bright light in their day. Book ownership is such a critical component to good literacy. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of a number of young Calgarians.”
