As part of Arcurve’s 150 Hours, Lubo and Will (who you may recognize from our Pub Night bands) are giving back through music.

Lubo’s band, Borderline, has a long standing relationship with Between Friends, performing various fundraisers for over 10 years. His most recent gig was playing a fundraiser for Glamorgan School. Lubo said about the event: “It was great to see the kids excited about the music, we invited some of them on the stage to sing and play percussions with us a few times, and hopefully we inspired them to start learning an instrument, which I believe is very important for enhancing mental development of a child.”

Will has been performing for the Alberta Wilderness Association since he was 14. This is a Calgary non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife conservation efforts throughout Alberta. They focus on protecting fragile ecosystems from commercial development,  and monitoring native species at risk. Will says: “This is a cause I can get behind, because my favorite part of Calgary is accessing the vast and untouched expanses of wilderness nearby.” The event Will plays at is called ‘Music for the Wild’, a public concert series hosted monthly from Fall to Spring with proceeds helping fund the AWA’s operations.

We look forward to sharing more of these volunteer stories!
