1. How long have you been in the city you live in and what brought you there?

I have been in Calgary all my life (21 years)! My mom moved to Calgary in the 80s from the Philippines and my dad grew up in Edmonton. They both met in university here in Calgary and we’ve been living here since!

2. What field of study/practice did you pursue?

I finished my third year of Software Engineering with a minor in Biomedical engineering at the university of Calgary. I will be returning for my final year after my internship.

3. What are your hobbies/interests?

I have always loved to express myself creatively. I love to draw, paint, and have a good DIY project occasionally. Since getting an iPad, I have been loving digital art and have made some cool projects over the pandemic. Currently, I am interested in learning more about animation and making some cute animations for my friends and family. I have also made some fun crochet projects such as funny hats for my 2 dogs!

4. Tell us something fun/interesting not many people at work know about you!

Last summer, I bleached my hair for the first time ever. I never had blonde hair before nor have I ever bleached my hair, so it was a very new experience for me.  I also was not prepared for how permanently damaging the process would be for my hair so…that is why I have short black hair now haha!

5. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?

Hmmm…I would say Costa Rica! I LOVE ANIMALS and a lot of the animal discovery shows I watch seem to travel to Costa Rica for the coolest animals. It has been a longtime dream of mine to volunteer at one of the many wildlife rescues/sanctuaries.

6. If you had to eat one thing and one thing only for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Probably sushi. I feel like sushi can be prepared and made in many ways with different ingredients and it will always be so yummy!

7. What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about not taking things for granted. I hope to make the most of every experience and to appreciate every moment that comes with it. Time is something you will never get back so make the most of everything!

8. What are some things you’ve accomplished/are proud of?

I recently parallel parked in downtown…I find this to be a very big achievement of mine. Peak adult moment, indeed.

9. What brought you to Arcurve?

I first heard of the Arcurve through a past intern, Tyler. I heard about many great experiences and how different it was from my perception of a typical “corporate job”. There was excitement, office nerf battles, the CSR project, and volunteer initiatives, and a strong, lively community at Arcurve that I wanted to join. So as soon as I heard intern job posting open, I applied!

10. What about Arcurve makes you want to stay? (Does it challenge you, help you grow in your role?)

The people! The people at Arcurve are what make it great – everyone that I have worked with and met have been all very respectful, kind, and never one to turn down a fun challenge in the social area. As an intern and growing employee, I know that everyone wants me to have the best experience at Arcurve and learn the most I can during my internship. I am provided with many opportunities to practice volunteering and leadership through the intern projects, or through our Volunteering efforts. I am also challenged with new tasks every day!
