October 26th, 2010 Oktoberfest Roundtable

The ongoing and increasingly popular Arcurve Roundtable technical discussion was held at the Ramada Downtown on the 26th of October. The Oktoberfest theme brought with it not only beer and sausages, but two real-world examples of Silverlight applications in production.

Part of the interesting discussion included an elaboration of the business reasons for using Silverlight and why it was selected over other available technical solutions.  The two  applications that were discussed between drinking of beer and eating of sausage,  were Calgary Scientifics’ leading medical imaging software ResMD and  a fuel inventory and transit application developed by Arcurve for one of its clients.

A special thank you to Munroe Thomas and Neal Sanche, both of Calgary Scientific,  who were on hand to demonstrate and discuss their application.  Those in attendance also had the opportunity to view a demo of the iPhone application for ResMD.

Several questions were brought forth to the presenters, including many inquiries around the benefits of selecting this particular technology.  It was helpful for all to have the technical hands on deck that had developed both applications to speak to their particular experiences with Silverlight.
