Calgary Food Bank Assembly Line 2011

Through our fund raising efforts last year internally and with our clients, we raised $5,000 for the Calgary Food Bank.

This year, we thought it would be fun, interesting and beneficial to also supply some “hands on” help.  Therefore, Arcurve as a group visited the the Food Bank and worked on the Food Bank’s Assembly line!

Did you know:

  • Tuna and pineapple are the two most frequently donated canned food.
  • Arcurvians with the help of the other volunteers bagged up four pallets of oranges in record time.
  • 140,442 clients visit the Food Bank for Emergency Food Hampers.
  • Escargot and onion soup mix are considered condiments.
  • Food Bank has a wall of donated food that are past their shelf life - ranging from items like Woodward's cream style corn (circa 1972), Jello Whip n' Chill (circa 1968) and Marshmallow Fluff that is no longer fluffy.
