This marks the first year that Arcurve is participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Taking place August 17 & 18, the ride is 100km each way, going from the north of Calgary to the town of Sundre. Arcurve's team of 11 is looking to raise a total of $27,500 before the ride.
With Arcurve's history of community and charity involvement, I was inspired to put together this team as it combines my love of being active, as well as being able to help others.
The reason I choose the Ride to Conquer Cancer as the charity to support is because of the impact cancer has among so many people. An estimated 1 in 2 Canadians will develop cancer in their lifetime and cancer accounts for roughly 30% of deaths annually in Canada.
The Ride to Conquer Cancer has raised over $75 million since 2009 for the Alberta Cancer Foundation, which has lead to new cancer therapies and enhanced care to help improve the survival rates of all the different types of cancer.
As a team, we look forward to the day of the ride to help spread awareness and to participate with the hundreds of others there as we all strive to help combat cancer.
Thank you to everyone who came out to Arcurve's bowling event earlier this month—we raised $1200 towards our goal!
